Report Abuse I was shocked to hear the sad news...shortly after he suffered a heart attack at his home. He brought a turn-around for Northwestern University's Wildcats...that many had called the 'MILdcats' tIL Coach Walker took the helm. Walker had graduated from Miami U. and also was headcoach for the Miami Redskins...before heading to Evanston IL. He wILl be greatly missed; this Fall the Wildcats come to the Hometeam in Oxford to play the 'now RedHawks'. One announcer said "Coach Walker wILl be walking the sidelines on both side of the field" during that upcoming game. Randy Walker was a 'farm boy' from Troy, Ohio; I'm sure there wILl be quite a local as well as national contingent of visitors...wherever the funeral/services take place. He was an Honourable Coach!! Professional!!

What a shame; the rapport Randy Walker had with his players was awesome, both on and off the field. It is a great loss to their program, which was 'on the reload and building track'!! How's it been going? Out there in 'God's Country', too? Wife and kids doing well, I hope? Don't forget to 'stop and smell the roses' with them. Randy Walker had remarked in one article I read....after a warning that 'he wanted to live to see his grandchildren'. Kids and grandkids NEED a Dad and "Gramps", very much!! And I hope to 'glean' some 'good stories' from local sources here from his 'hometown stompin grounds' around Troy, Ohio.
