Look, is ND overrated? HELL YES!
But let's think about he factors behind it.
As a society we have "dumbed down" our standards. The kids graduating from public high school this June will not have had to achieve as many requirements as you did when you graduated. That is a fact. We have dropped the standards so that no one feels stupid and more people pass.
ND has not dropped their standards! Which makes it very difficult to find great athletes that can meet the requirements of a curriculum at ND. Much less pass an entrance exam. Again, half the kids from Louisiana St. who beat ND in the Sugar Bowl could not even spell LSU if you spotted them the L and the S.
ND has only had one prop 48 player in its entire existence. You have to earn it to go there.
The most popular insult in New Orleans from LSU fan to ND fan was:
"Ti-ger Bait"
The most popular comeback from ND fan to LSU fan was:
"grad-u-ate"
This does not excuse the nine losses in bowl games in a row. Nor does it excuse the idiocy of the BCS and coaches for voting them high enough to get in a BCS game.
The biggest problem is ND is $$$$$!
If you love them you watch to see them win. If you hate them you watch to see them lose. Fact is you watch! As most of you did.
By even starting or posting in this topic you are propagating their overratedness (is that a word).
You as posters in this topic are giving them PUBLICITY!
If you want them to go away, show them not cheers or hatred...show them indifference!

No question that ND is the most overrated/overglorified college team every year and their nine straight bowl losses prove that.

They're ALWAYS overrated by about ten positions. But they have a large national following so they're always on TV and in bowl games over their ability level. I'm glad the nine straight bowl losses is getting some attention. The country is catching on.

It must be true, if even a Sooner fan is justified in saying that!

The problem is Notre Dame doesn't want to share any of their TV money that they get from NBC. They get to keep the money AND they get national exposure each week. Too bad it isn't always quite the exposure they hoped for.

Notre Dame is not even a mid-level team. I believe that top teams including Boise State and Rutgers this year would run over the Irish. I also believe that most average teams would be able to handle them as well. It is time for the "Roll-over, name recognition only, Irish" to get off their high horses. Join a conference that will force them to improve and stop with the double standard Notre Dame clause in the BCS. It only served to push a deserving team out of a high money game for a no better than Indiana University team in my book.

No question they are over-rated. They can beat most teams, but they are not close to being able to play with the elite programs right now.

...that and the fact that Notre Dame was manhandled by Michigan this year.

But Michigan hasn't lost 9 straight bowl games. It just seems like they have.

Tough to mock Notre Dame with the dump Michigan took in the Rose Bowl. At least LSU was the better team than Notre Dame to begin with.
