Boys are back on the saddle again. They are winning those road trips. What a rookie season Felix Jones is having, broke Tony Dorsett's 84-yard record back in 77 against the Eagles. Next are the Redskins. If Da Boys paly together again without too many penlties, they should win...go Cowboys

New QBs on stage and the cards are favored for the Cowboys. I pick Cowboys to win this one as long as they reduce thier penlties.

JP, I was lucky enough to see the Steelers crush Buffalo and Seattle at home last season (2 of the hottest days of the year in Pgh, by the way).

If I am so lucky to score tix for the Cowgirls clash, I will be there screaming my head off for them to Slammo Romo!

I don't miss your point at all brother. If the ticket price is too high for you or anyone else...get a better job to afford it...or better yet, don't go to the damn game. Watch it on TV.

I'm happier that Ben signed on to be our QB for the next 8 years. Feel alot better having him than a blonde-chasing QB who hasn't won jack dooky.

I'm here for the points too...

Well we've been way outside the topic for this thread for some time now. I still think you are both missing my point about who is paying pro athletes' salaries but hey, I'm just here for the points anyway...

I echo BB's sentiments. Don't take things so harsh dude.

A couple things though, there is what is called revenue sharing in this league, so your Cowboys are paying Ben too. The Rooney's could double the price of season tickets and fans STILL would pay it and like it. Are they stupid or loyal or both? Just because you and me wouldn't do it, the 'Burgh is a different breed when it comes to football.

As long as Ben stays healthy (I know, easier said than done), he is more than capable of producing the ultimate goal, Lombardi's #6, #7, #8..., thus he can make $200 mil for all I care. I don't remember too many people complaining when Jordan was making $25 mil/year (as well as A-Rod).
Heck, St. Louis, Houston, Atlanta (to name a few) would KILL, just to even make the playoffs!

Nobody is taking cheap shots at you Pdiddy...maybe you need a little thicker skin. I don't argue the fact that Ben is getting alot of money...and as TDice noted, guys like Romo helped pave the way for Ben to get that kind of money.

We are not ignorant. I think we know that greed is what motivates the NFL from top to bottom. Some individuals have better character and handle it more respectfully than others. Ben happens to be one of those guys as well as the Rooneys, but you are right...money comes first. Until the fans are unwilling to relinquish that money, the beast will continue to be fed. All big business works this way.

Sorry if you thought I was blaming you for Bush...I assure you I wasn't. For all I know you voted for Gore and Kerry (If so, I'd still feed ya crap! LOL) Don't take things so personal. Come to Hawaii sometime and I can show you how screwed up politics can be.

As for your original point, I think you'll see both, I and the Diceman, agree that athletes are overpaid. We may differ on opinions of Ben being more so (relatively speaking), but as stated he is a pro athlete and therefore grossly overpaid.

Buzz you can take cheap shots at me all you want, blame me for Bush, whatever. But if you & TDice think that any NFL or pro sports team's players are being paid by their owners then I guess I gave you guys way too much credit.

Everytime a fan buys anything with a team logo on it, pays for a ticket to see a game or anything remotely associated with a team THEY are ultimately paying for that teams' players salary. Higher salaries, higher ticket prices. Just because there is a waiting list for tickets do you honestly think that the owner is saying "well I can't raise prices because when those people requested their tickets they weren't that high"!
Please guys, tell me you know better than that!

These owners are in it to make money FIRST! Its a business! If they can win a championship thats icing on the cake but the owners (with few exceptions, Cuban possibly) are not in this business to take a loss.

Finally, my original point (before everyone got so jacked up) was that Ben's new deal was really high even for as good as he is. I think he would've stayed with the Steelers for less $$$. Jeez, not really that big a deal guys...sorry I brought it up

Pdiddy, the thing is that ticket prices can't possibly be raised, because every ticket is sold from now until eternity. Theres a ticket waiting list of about a mile long.

Buzz explained it correctly, almost every pro athlete is grossly overpaid, but since there are now only 2 QB's currently playing who deserve more, I would say Ben's paycheck is pretty much par for the course if you wan't to keep a franchise player on your team (which Ben has numerously stated that he wants to retire a Steeler).

Pdiddy, In case you haven't noticed, everything has gone up in price and it ain't because Mr. Rooney is paying Ben...The current economy can be largely attributed to that bonehead in the White House who hails from your home state as well as the other dopes on Capitol Hill; Demos and Repubs alike!

Sorry didn't mean to get all political <sneaks off soapbox>

In todays NFL market, the final figure does not matter other than an incentive to keep a player in place. The real part of the contract is the first 3 years...along with the guaranteed money. With Ben's record, I'd say relative to the rest of the league, he deserves it...but if ya ask me, ALL pro athletes are grossly overpaid.

Ok TD, if thats what you think, ok. I never said he didn't deserve big $$$ but there is such thing as overdoing it. BTW let us know if tickets for Steelers home games goes up this year ...by some strange coincidence. Wonder why that would happen?

PDiddy, JP, Jetta and anyone else...Hell Yeah, Ben deserved that contract (and the taxpayers aren't paying for it, Dan Rooney writes the checks, thank you). He's only won 2 divisional titles, named to 2 Pro Bowls and a Super Bowl in his first 4 years in the league and has won more games than any other QB, not named Marino, so early in his career.

Without looking it up Buzz, Jessica Simpsons boyfriend is making beaucoup dinero brother. WAYYYYY MORE than he deserves too. I made a comment that Ben would love that signing and guess what he cashed in better.

Well, since Heinz Field is owned by the Sports and Exhibition Authority, no. And remember the University of Pittsburgh uses Heinz Field as their home field. Are the taxpayers also subsidizing them as well?

ScoutMaster-
"Why would the PA taxpayers be responsible for a football players salary?"
ScoutMaster-
"Other than Heinz Field is where the Steelers play, what does that have to do with Ben's salary?"So you think the tax payers buying the Steelers orginazation a new stadium doesn't help them afford $100m contracts for their top players?

Other than Heinz Field is where the Steelers play, what does that have to do with Ben's salary?

Never said that Pdiddy, but it was a major reason he accepted the contract he was offered. Sure it's a lot of money but he wants to play for a class organization and he will be.

I was saying that jokingly, scoutmaster...
but let me just say this seriously- if you think Big Ben's whole reason for re-signing with the Steelers was just because "he wanted to stay here.", I got a newsflash for ya!

We're paying Ben's salary? If anything, we'd be paying for the Eagles salaries if it was up to the majority of Harrisburg.

Oh come on JP, Ben is in the Top 5 (currently playing) and you know it! We know who 1 and 2 are. That leaves 3 more spots and anyone you say can easily be argued that Ben should be amongst or ahead.

Looks like Jones is looking else where, yesterday it was with the Lions, next the Titans, next week, who knows. He needs to move on & let Barber handle the running chore for the Cowboys now. Wade needs to focus for this coming up playoffs and new season, they shoudl take it one gaem at a time. GO COWBOYS
