You posted on the SPR "But let's also take away the huge tax breaks we give big oil." - May I ask; Which ones? Could you specify and give reasons why oil companies, which pay the highest taxes and rates of any industry should be treated any differently than all other industries under the tax code? I'm curious to know the intellect behind your thoughts. Thanks.

What California is contemplating is mandating that any car registered in the state would be required to have a GPS that the Government could use to track your location and your mileage. They want to make sure they're only taxing you when you're driving within the state's boundaries. You don't get taxed when you leave the state. The GPS will be "free", but what will really happen is that your car registration will rise to pay for the cost of your "free" GPS. No privacy issues there.

I agree, the more electronics used in autos, the more chance of a hackers dream.

"Not at all true here as prices went up 6 cents yesterday," You guys took a spike up like many others, but it's gonna come back down, just like it's doing here and elsewhere. That's not because of speculators either. It's just like the price of gas is dropping and down from where it would have normally been because some realized it was going to go up again, so they bought extra contracts of gasoline and took delivery of them and now we've got lower prices at the pump. If they had waited and bought those contracts at a higher price, as they obviously did in your area, we'd all be paying more than we already are.

2 yrs of owning our TDI --- 74,000 miles... continues to out perform our expectations--- over 55 mpg at 65 mph on open road... and yes we drive the open road many days... many of our adv trips are at least 100 miles each way... average over 800 miles per tank... my wife no longer has to fill up during her trips as an consultant... and when momma is happy... well, my life is now wonderful --- VW Passat TDI... & Michelin touring energy tires

<>"Let's get rid of the huge tax breaks for big oil first."<> Just what are these big breaks you speak of?

"The XL was and is a bad idea on several fronts." NO it's not! That pipeline and others are needed and it's cheaper to pipe it than ship it by rail. Since I'm a greenie it's also cleaner to pipe it than ship it by rail! Maybe you and the elitists want $5 to $14 a gallon gas, $3 to $8 loaves of bread or the same price for a dozen eggs, but I'm F-ing poor enough already! Damn you people anyhow!

Re: "Seems like a propaganda piece; consider the source." I normally don't dignify a post like yours with a retort, but I made an exception in your case and left a response. SA

No bro, I'm not sloppy with the definitions. You need to understand that you and I come from a different era, and I've adapted to the younger generation of today, predominantly those 45 and under. I'm 55 mind you, and I many years ago only thought along the lines that YOU now do. Not everything is according to the dictionary. It's not even any different when I move forward with upgrading and modifying a computer, it's software and hardware to make it work faster, make me more productive, etc. It's also the same with a vehicle if I decide to move forward with it and upgrade and modify it to get better fuel economy, make it faster, etc. I don't use the rules!
