Those were the good old days when I was a kid going to those games. Fingers, Hunter, Jackson, Tennace, Campeneris.... They made it fun and yes, Fingers had the look of no other player in the game!! Johnny O

Big Oil companies make billions of dollars in profits every quarter and experts know that ethanol fuel causes pipelines to corrode. The fire in Washington was caused by a missed corroded pipeline, which is normally found during a routine seasonal maintenance, but when these specialists doing this maintenance overlook such pipeline corrosion until after it was already a safety hazard, then perhaps big oil should invest more money in fixing up their refineries so these refinery accidents won't happen every single year. However, in their defense, 2013 has been one of their better years in recent memory, but perhaps because of what happened last year. It's good to have an open mind to these kind of situations. Big oil companies are not the poster boy model corporations that you may seem to think they are, DoctorV.

When you make claims that refiners are destroying millions of dollars of their own equipment purposefully just to drive up prices, not only do you lose any credibility, you look like an angry nut.

In response to your comment on oil company profits I'd love to hear your thoughts on the following. ExxonMobil in 2011 made $27.3 billion in cash payments for income taxes. Chevron paid $17 billion and ConocoPhillips $10.6 billion. And not only were these the highest amounts in absolute terms, when compared with the rest of the 25 most profitable U.S. companies, the trio also had the highest effective tax rates. Exxon’s tax rate was 42.9%, Chevron’s was 48.3% and Conoco’s was 41.5%. That’s even higher than the 35% U.S. federal statutory rate, which is already the highest tax rate among developed nations.
