"Wind power is very costly to maintain." No, less costly to maintain than a coal fired or natural gas fired plant. The previous Democratic governor signed off on the order in 2008, but he didn't approve enough work being done in time before he left office.
They have enough wind, not enough money or time. Plus, big business isn't going in with the money like they had hoped. They want 3000 megawatts by 2020, 2000 by 2015 and they have 450 megawatts as of now. They're not going to make it in time for 2015 unless they put up somewhere between 600 and 720 new turbines, and it would mean at least 2 a day for the rest of the year. Not gonna happen.
