re: the DeLorean car: the body of the one and only car DeLorean ever produced (the model DMC-12) is not made of aluminum, all the sheet metal body work is bare stainless steel with a brushed finish, chemically treated to maintain the shine. There is no paint or clear coat. Yes it does look a lot like brushed aluminum. The stainless body panels are not structural, they are attached to a sub-body made of fiberglass that is mounted onto a custom made chassis designed by the same guy who owned Lotus car company. The factory only ever produced bare metal cars, but some dealers offered custom paint jobs because customers complained that all the cars looked exactly alike... which they did. The Land Rover and Range Rover however do have aluminum body panels and roof.

"What do they make it from?" They make it from a variety of sources, quite often its from food sources or related, just as they do ethanol from corn [doesn't matter if it's feed for animals, it's still food and people HAVE eaten it at times], but they can and sometimes use other sources. Leftovers, used oil, scraps, waste, etc., and those that make their own sometimes still make it for less than $1.80 a gallon, even though I usually tell folks they make it for less than $2 a gallon.

A BIG CONGRATS on reaching that 1M mark and your first new red car! Awesome, most new GBs will never make it to 1M, but you did! : ) You're one of only 7,744 GBs of more than 8,000,000 that signed up to be GasBuddies to have accumulated at least 1,000,000 points! Keep going another 2 or 3 million! Another 2M and you'll be into that nice big limo! : ) Only 2,898 GBs have made it to 2M, so there is room for you there also! Many GBs ahead of you have already retired! DON'T give up now like so many of those that retired once they got to 1M and those that got to 2M! You're doing great, it takes persistence and dedication to keep climbing that GasBuddy ladder, but you can do it, so keep going! Keep going like a PRO Vermont GasBuddy, leading the way here in GasBuddyland for others to follow! You've been a great GasBuddy! Have a nice week! Thanks! Ron

In response to your comment on oil company profits I'd love to hear your thoughts on the following. ExxonMobil in 2011 made $27.3 billion in cash payments for income taxes. Chevron paid $17 billion and ConocoPhillips $10.6 billion. And not only were these the highest amounts in absolute terms, when compared with the rest of the 25 most profitable U.S. companies, the trio also had the highest effective tax rates. Exxon’s tax rate was 42.9%, Chevron’s was 48.3% and Conoco’s was 41.5%. That’s even higher than the 35% U.S. federal statutory rate, which is already the highest tax rate among developed nations.
