Broad access to Canadian crude is needed... beyond the Keystone pipeline

GasBuddy Blog -- If you’ve taken a look lately at retail gasoline prices across the U.S. it’s not terribly surprising to see high-tax states like New York and California with the most expensive gasoline in the country. But which states are paying the least?

Wyoming. Montana. New Mexico. Utah. Colorado. Idaho. While these states have lower fuel taxes than many others, they are also among those with access to cheaper Canadian crude oil which sells at a discount to West Texas Intermediate.

Canadian crude can greatly benefit coastal cities --if there was a way to get it there. Particularly in the northeast, refineries have struggled in recent years and capacity is further reduced with the latest closing of the Hess facility in Port Reading...

He just wants to vacation and golf at our expense. He won't do anything to benefit the masses when his goal is to destroy capitalism and redistribute the wealth so we all are the same. Some people suggest refining the oil in Canada for export. It might be a good idea in theory, but it’s not really practical. Once refined, there will be over 20 products out of it. Are we going to build 20 plus pipelines or send them by trucks to the US and how is it shipped overseas? At 900,000 barrels a day, that’s over 4,000 truck loads a day.
