GasBuddy Blog -- It's already been well discussed: West Coast motorists, prepare for gas prices to get nasty. Wholesale gasoline prices, the determining factor in setting retail prices, has zoomed higher today throughout the West Coast.

prices jumped here well over 60 cents in a month (2.89 to 3.65), and FL is not even close to the West Coast at all.

this is pure bull***t, this fire has absolutely nothing to do with the gas prices!! this kind of logic is like charging your work a ton of money because you broke your foot at home!!! does this make any sense? NOPE!

The Lawsuits and the Politics and the Environmentalists and the age of refinerie are going to make fuel to be harder to manufacture if not allowing it to manufacture anymor.

You can blame Big Oil for the shrinking number of refineries, @Mtgreenwood. They've been consolidating operations and closing plants in an attempt to raise refinery profit margins.

As I have reported over my time on this site, Big Oil creates "incidents" annually to justify price hikes...even at the expense of lives. I know this from 2 different inside sources. This is GREEDY BIG OIL AT IT'S FINEST!

Please save the drilling comments for an article about drilling, @Algernon.

Now, do you have any comments on refineries?

Seems like awfully convenient timing ...

They have insurance to make them whole for their damages and losses ... yet we all get screwed in the mean time with high prices, and nothing to compensate us for OUR losses ...

So the media issues a panic report about how prices will jump and the speculators fuel the panic. Sick how this works.

Not all of the 245,000 barrel-per-day plant, which accounts for one-eighth of California's refining capacity, appears to have been shut down, despite local media reports suggesting the sprawling facility had been idled.

"We are still continuing to operate," spokesman Brent Tippen told Reuters
Not on cent should be raise because of this fire it was even said it was idle not runnning so why the bigg change in price ....1/8 of fuel was produce at this refinery only!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If we want prices to be lower, we have to change our domestic drilling policies.

The only way to do that is to VOTE OBAMA OUT IN 2012!!!!!
