I'm a cheap SOB, and would have to do a lot of research on this before buying. These posts have been very helpful & informative, thanks to all

I would never buy a gps, if I am going somewhere that I am not familiar with I just go to mapquest and download all the maps I need.

Already have one. I am also quite capable of reading a map, but a 3.5" screen that constantly updates my location, is much more convenient than pulling over to the side of the road to unfold a map. I don't use it to go to my local grocery store, but it is quite handy in places that I'm not familiar with.

I am interested, but not ready to buy one. They now have GPS units that show gas prices, which is what's making me interested.

It could be useful at times, but I will not buy one for a long time yet. This kind of option is still very much a luxury feature for me.

It is mostly just a a gadget, a gizmo. I do not take very many auto trips to unfamiliar areas. If I were truck or bus driver, I sure would have one.
