The local low/high for unleaded is $3.33/$3.90 tonight with an average falling in the $3.60's to $3.70's... In two words, IT SUCKS!

Crude and unusual punishment at the gas pumps! Got to love that tag line... Yes it is "crude" but unfortunately it's not all that unusual anymore!
Looks like $4 a gallon will be a reality if the current trends of increases averaging $.30 a week continue through 3/1/2013... And if the $4 per gallon barrier is broken can $5 be very far behind? April/May will be interesting months from a price per gallons on standpoint as we will start to see the impact of refineries shutting down to switch from the winter to the summer blend and the focus on home heating fuel will substantially diminish and fade away along with Old Man Winter.
What are your prescriptions for national average and local average fuel costs per gallon this summer? Do I hear $4, $5 or $6?

When the price of fuel is over $6.00/gal in DC then perhaps they will wake up!

Things are going to get worse and worse. We haven't seen anything yet, and the government is in on it and plan to totally cripple this country. Why? So they and impose everything and suspend the constitution. They need total control and they will get it. We are letting them. This is totally unnecessary. We must take a stand and now before it's too late and it maybe is right now.

Well, I guess you're a real Rhodes scholar then aren't you, @dastard57? Always nice to see someone display their ignorance when they deal in absolute statements like "Government policies always have the opposite effect than their intentions." Why have government at all then?
Why not just grab your shotgun and your axe and head into the wilderness. It's pretty obvious that you have no use for society.
Oil is most certainly not required to run civilization, it's only the most convenient way. The Stone Age didn't end because people ran out of stone. They found something better. The only thing that keeps oil going is the fact that people have an overwhelming fear of change. Sounds a lot like you, @dastard57.

So, we should also get rid of food inspectors at meat packing plants, because they were just fine before we did. Don't need the FDA because the flipper children never happened,, really.
Of course, we can just count on China to provide us with everything, where some enterprising business man was just found selling grease he collected from sewers to restaurants. Yeah, who needs a diligent government? The market will take care of us.

The rate of increase in price at the pumps is crazy! Everyone is struggling with this when we were just getting used to the lower prices. Since price of crude dropped some, hope that continues to drop & maybe gas prices will come behind. When you give up hope, life isn't worth anything.

"Analysts say it’s unclear if prices will continue to climb through the spring, like they did last year."
This is just a statement to provide a false hope that it won't.

@Aviator bob ~ You're a fool and have lost touch with reality if you think the world can suddenly stop using oil. It is the basis of the world's economy because physics dictates it. Oil remains the most efficient source of energy, that is the reality. The free market is the only sensible way to improve on the current technologies for alternatives. The truth is, Government policies always have the opposite effect than their intentions. The corrupt politicians (which most are, ALL parties) can only benefit when the electorate buys their lies. This is the root cause of why our economy is in the toilet!

There is only one real factor that is causing this dramatic increase in price in such a short time.
Greed.

What anyone wants doesn't matter, @CCLighthouse. Limited fossil fuels will make that a reality, no matter what you may want. The era of cheap oil is over, people. It costs more and more money to get fewer and fewer barrels of oil. All the low hanging fruit has been picked. All that's left is deepwater drilling, shale oil, and tar sands.
Eventually we'll be left trying to get oil out of melting down plastic bottles.

Our problem not in the US and Canada is the more we drill and pump the less we import, but we continue to export more finished fuels since we cannot export OIL in the US and the price keeps going higher as we send our fuel away for higher profits and greed. So we should now see that the more we drill/pump it is not going to lower our prices here in the US.
