EPA Ruling Sets Stage for a Gas Pump Change

CSP Daily News -- PACIFIC, Mo. -- Motorists accustomed to filling up at gas pumps with vapor-collecting attachments on the nozzles could be in for a change. Those nozzles belong to Stage II vapor-recovery systems, which the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) ruled no longer cost effectively cut air pollution. And states are increasingly allowing them to be decommissioned. EPA estimates eliminating Stage II systems will save gas stations $3,000 each year.

EPA Ruling Sets Stage for a Gas Pump Change, why was there a change in the first place? If the Stage II vapor recovery nozzle does not work right, get rid of it! So will there be more of a gasoline smell in the air during a fill up? Gas prices will not go down but may go up slightly to recover the cost of the modifications. It just goes to show, there's always something!
Drive vehicles with high MPG, are very safe, reliable, have a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money.
The price of fuel at the pump is too high!

remind me why we put that stuff into so many stations in the first place? Esp. those in colder areas while FL never was required... hmmm... vaporizing gasoline in FL... not happening, right?

Since when does the EPA or any part of the government care about whether something is cost effective?

They'll just absorb the lower costs and not reduce prices.

I don't see a reduction in pump prices coming to the consumer.

I'm sure gas prices were raised to cover the cost of the changeover when the nozzles became mandatory now I bet It will cost us again to convert them back to standard nozzles

A step in the wrong direction. The areas around the gas stations without these devices smell terrible.
