Gas Prices Dropping, But Still At Record High For Thanksgiving

Aol Autos -- Although gas prices have been steadily declining over the past few days, and seem reasonable compared with $4.00-plus pump prices, it looks like travelers will see a record high for Thanksgiving weekend this year.

AAA has estimated that around 44 million people will travel for Thanksgiving this year, 90% of whom will do so by car. All of those extra drivers on the road will surely amount to some added stress on your trip, but there is one area that you'll actually find some alleviation: Gas prices.

Relative to the past few weeks and months, gas prices are actually down right now, with the national average at $3.43 per gallon of regular unleaded gas.

"As we approach Thanksgiving, the national average has taken quite a drop, dropping close to 30 cents in the last month," Patrick DeH

Has anyone noticed that we're no closer to being able to stop sending the middle east our money for oil than we were 4 years ago?

It's hard to predict. Gas went up here by 10 cents at the beginning of the week and has since dropped a couple of cents.

Our price around here is above the national average. It's definitely not the regular winter price drop. But I'm glad that the problem in Gaza didn't spike the oil price like usual...

I wonder why gas prices in South Carolina are below $3, yet NJ remains at an average of $3.50.

They were dropping, and maybe they'll be going back down a bit more before going up again, but they went up, just in-time for the holiday, almost as I and others suspected it would. Most I know realize they'll raise prices for the holidays.

Gas prices are only relative to what they were the week before. But if you have a long memory... maybe last month or last year.

Indianapolis area average is $3.57 right now. National average is $3.44. Last year at this time it was average $3.16 in Indy. Tell me why I should give thanks? Oh, because it's not $4.00 a gallon? Gee thanks!

Prices not dropping around here. After that last overnight hike of 20 cents just over a week ago, it has stayed high.
