honda0105, "meanwhile, Pig Oil still collects about $6 billion in subsidies." =================================================== Really, can you specify please? And please remember the definition of subsidy, which is defined as: A sum of money granted by the government or a public body to assist an industry or business so that the price of a commodity or service.

meanwhile, Pig Oil still collects about $6 billion in subsidies. Considering how well Pig Oil does, why do we need to provide those subsidies?

I don't know if it will solve the problems of the day, but it will set the stage for some positive things in the future. Shouldn't we all be concerned about our grandchildren and great grandchildren's future? That should be what it is really all about, not us!

Will this help fund Washington State I-937 that voters passed in 2006 and seem to be unhappy about paying for now?
from Wikipedia: The initiative requires large utilities to obtain 15% of their electricity from new renewable resources such as solar and wind (but excluding hydro) by 2020 with incremental steps of 3% by 2012 and 9% by 2016. It also requires that utilities undertake all cost-effective energy conservation.[1]

It's nice to have rebates but in the long run this all adds up to government spending and we all wonder where spending is coming from...it's everywhere especially corporate tax exemptions here and there and everywhere like giving tax credits for taking jobs outside of this country. What's wrong with this picture?

Let privite enterprise handle wind and solar power. If it's feasible, they will do it. Keep the government out of it.

waste of time and money. Need a strong fuel to boost our power, and wind and solar will not cut it now. Maybe later but from what I read, they are at least 40 years from development at this rate to compete in out use of energy today.

More taxpayer dollars are going to be wasted. Thank you those voters who put obummer back in office for four more years. It will cost the taxpayers plenty.

Sounds like more pork for Solyndra-like Obama-ites. Too bad they just can't let the free market system do its job and let it determine the most cost-effective way to go. Of course, that's blasphemy to a socialist.

They not get subsidies. If they can't make it on their own they should be allowed to die.

I do not see how DCs inept work-ethic, blasse attitude towards, lack of care for, & holding hostage this country, its people and the world (in general) gives anyone a positive outlook about anything. Their "job" is just pathetic, and there is no excuse for them. Lastly, there is no reason to re-elect any of them.
