To those posters who are interested in conversion costs....Google LPG and/or NG conversions for Vehicles. There are many commercial parts suppliers out there as well as Mechanics who will do it for you turn-key.

It is one alternative with a decent infrastructure but political leaders want something that they think needs their help and government based infrastructure.

Big oil made sure that the practical alternatives in the 80s and 90s are not as viable as it used to be -- why do you think that is? So, now I know where my tax $$ are going. It wasn't to subsidize the R&D for these companies. It's to make sure that alternatives are no longer alternatives so I will keep buying oil/gas. Wow! Why didn't I think of that! Greedy is greedy does.

There is plenty of oil to found yet. As long as you're willing to pay the price. We've exhausted the near-surface oil that we could find in our back yards, so to speak. Now we look for oil in the distant, difficult and dangerous parts of this planet. You want cheap oil? Move to Mars, so to speak...

Natural gas is to limited and our supplies will be exhausted in no time. Especially will the constant exportation and conversions to Natural Gas.

It may be a while before I trade for an alternative fuel type vehicle, I don't want to spend that much money to save a few cents per mile.

Other than electricity were still along way away from a alternative to ga. It would be cool though to have a large natural gas or propane tank at home to fill up ours vehicles with.

It may be BUT I believe other alternatives will appear thus making the real winner decision ten, maybe 20 years down the road.

But I am guessing the price is higher than natural gas. Fleets like before will begin using more natural gas or CNG first and have the fueling stations. This will free up more fuels for others for now but I am guessing will not lower the price.

In the 60's I had a Ford pickup that was bi-fuel... Gasoline and propane. Worked just fine. My uncle had a gigantic (at least to me) Minneapolis-Moline propane fueled tractor in the 50's. It also worked well for him.
