Is this the solution to our gas price woes?

Toronto Star -- There was a time when rising oil prices and gasoline shortages made fuels like propane, natural gas and biodiesel popular alternatives, but where are they now?

The 30 propane stations scattered around the GTA these days is a paltry sum when there were hundreds in the 80s and 90s and though they’re mostly found today where taxis and fleet vehicles fill up around the airport and industrial zones, liquid petroleum gas (LPG) is still the most practical alternative fuel for internal combustion engines.

A by-product of natural gas processing and crude oil refining, propane has a well-established infrastructure and it’s really the only alternate fuel that can be purchased from coast to coast and in all the urban and rural areas in between.

So, now I know where my tax $$ are going. It wasn't to subsidize the R&D for these companies. It's to make sure that alternatives are no longer alternatives so I will keep buying oil/gas. Wow! Why didn't I think of that! Greedy is greedy does.

As long as you're willing to pay the price. We've exhausted the near-surface oil that we could find in our back yards, so to speak. Now we look for oil in the distant, difficult and dangerous parts of this planet. You want cheap oil? Move to Mars, so to speak...

It would be cool though to have a large natural gas or propane tank at home to fill up ours vehicles with.

Fleets like before will begin using more natural gas or CNG first and have the fueling stations. This will free up more fuels for others for now but I am guessing will not lower the price.

Gasoline and propane. Worked just fine. My uncle had a gigantic (at least to me) Minneapolis-Moline propane fueled tractor in the 50's. It also worked well for him.
