Keystone XL pipeline: Judge won't block lawsuit challenging new Nebraska law

Missoulian -- A Lancaster County district judge has refused to block a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of Nebraska's new pipeline siting law.

Judge Stephanie Stacy on Monday denied a state request to dismiss the lawsuit that was filed in May by three people who own land along the proposed route of the Keystone XL pipeline.

In the lawsuit, the three — Randy Thompson, of Martell; Susan Dunavan, of McCool Junction; and Susan Luebbe, of Stuart —say the law that established the review process is unconstitutional because it doesn't allow for judicial review and doesn't spell out what criteria should be considered when a pipeline project is being evaluated.

They also object to a provision of the new law that puts the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality and Gov. Dave Heineman in charge of

They go in and cut down all of the trees if there are any and dig a big trench. I am not sure if the land can then be farmed on after wards or not. But they probably don't want farmers to plow over it when it is completed. So you lose land and probably trees and maybe buildings. The property is certainly worth less afterwards. Then there are the environmental problems if the pipe breaks or leaks. Your land may be then worthless for farming. Any way you look at it is a problem. Our family lost property to eminent domain back in the 1950s it is not something anyone should have to go through. You have no idea how painful this can be until you have experienced eminent domain. It truly sucks. It is correct to make sure that this process is thoroughly vetted legally.

If the deal with nebraska falls thhrough at least the pipeline could move the Bakken oil out of the Dakotas southward to be refined. Still worried about moving so much oil by train.

The Keystone XL pipeline is to process crude oil into fuel at the gulf coast refineries and export that fuel to countries that will pay more for it. The US will Not see cheaper fuel prices! Big Oil will build the pipeline, no matter what Sneeky or D.C. says. The US ‘oil and natural gas resources’ belong to the citizens of this country and are to be used by those same citizens! Speculators, manipulators and the banks continue to unfairly and unjustly make the driving public pay higher prices at the pump for their personal greedy benefit. The price at the pump needs to go down to $2/gallon - $3, $3.50/gallon or *$4.00 is Not the new low! More Refineries are Not the answer, Stop exporting fuel is! Whatever the size or shape of the vehicle, vehicle manufactures Produce and the population ‘Drives’ vehicles with high MPG, are very safe, reliable, have a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money.
