Who conducted the survey? The Civil Society Institute (CSI)
The CSI Media Release about the study mentions as a key finding of the study:
"More than three out of four Americans (76 percent) - including 58 percent of Republicans, 83 percent of Independents, and 88 percent of Democrats -- think that the United States should move to a sustainable energy future through 'a reduction in our reliance on nuclear power, natural gas and coal, and instead, launch a national initiative to boost renewable energy and energy efficiency.'"
Awesome! So, if the CSI survey results are accurate, Americans are a lot more united than the media would have us believe!
It does appear the survey results would have been less promising, if it were taken among gasbudy posters on this topic. :/ But I still hope we can find a way to turn this united public opinion into decisive action before its to late.

it is all how questions are asked and how the data is reported. I know around here that would be 80% the other way.

This poll must have been done in Berkeley C.A. on a collage campus.

Like I said yesterday. This administration would be better served if it stays out of the investment game and leave that to Wall Street that we bailed out.

They must take their polls on campus, which is populated by impressionable young people in the midst of their 16-20 years of government indoctrination favoring socialism. We all know the universities are a stronghold of the radical left.

I'm for renewable energy, if it can take us (the American people) off our addiction to foreign oil.

. Funny, nobody I talked to has even heard of this poll? They must have gone to the most liberal part of the campus and asked because nobody in their right mind believes the government can do anything right or should be involved with anything!

It doesn't really matter what the polls say, the Federal government has NO authority subsidizing renewable energy research. The reason that we are in such dire straits is that we have abandoned "federalism"; allowing our central government to acquire too much power in areas where they don't belong. We will continue this downward spiral economically and have countless "Solandras" until we understand this and make the necessary changes. An application of the 10th Amendment to all federal legislation is in order.

I have no problem with creating renewable energy sources as long as research and thest of the productio is done thouroghly and is efficient not very costly to produce or sell to the customer.

Yeah, I disagree with the findings of this poll, therefore, they must have asked pseudo-intellectual effete snobs at a higher-learning institute that only Republicans can afford to attend who are influenced by pinko professors who have spent their lives studying the effects of pollution and climate change on the environment. How could this possibly be a fair poll?

I doubt it. It depends on how the question was asked. You can get a "YES" to do you support the abolishing of the constitution and the implementation of martial law if it is worded correctly.

The USA needs a fifty year energy plan, instead of the present system of no plan and focuses that change with every new congress and administration. Go with clean energy and electricity storage.

Everyone complains about the needs, the absolute must to increase the production and technology of renewable energy in the US, but with every new advancement in technology there is a cost. People in the US want the cheaper fuel to run their vehicles and run the factories, but are reluctant to spend the money now for the research and development of these renewable energy sources. You just can't have it both ways and unfortuantely congress is not helping with all this politicing.
