Natural Gas Glut Pushes Exports

The Wall Street Journal -- Energy companies are racing to export natural gas from the U.S. as they search for more-profitable markets amid a continent-wide gas glut that has depressed prices to the lowest levels in a decade.

A consortium including Exxon Mobil Corp., XOM +0.57% ConocoPhillips Co. COP +1.11% and BP BP.LN -1.10% PLC said late Wednesday it is moving forward with plans to export natural gas from Alaska's North Slope in a project that could cost as much as $65 billion. The long-awaited effort is expected to have a significant impact not just on Alaska and its economy, but also on U.S. construction and manufacturing companies that would supply steel and other materials for an 800-mile pipeline and the plant that would convert the gas into liquid for export on tankers.

Now if US companies just took advantage of the technology for powering vehicles, and export the new vehicles as well!

Natural Gas Glut Pushes Exports? If there is a natural gas glut then why export the natural gas?
Big Oil continues to sell fuel and natural gas on the world market for higher prices, there will be NO price reduction for the cost of fuel or natural gas IN the US. 'Coming out of the closet' Fred's lousy, smoke and mirrors, lack of jobs, dog and pony show and in the crapper economy, the jobs are Not here. Fred's economy is not improving but continues to hurt the population and the job numbers continue to be down – no matter how smoooooth talking Fred spins those numbers! People will still drive and buy fuel no matter what but it sure helps to have a job too!
The US ‘oil and natural gas resources’ belong to the citizens of this country and are to be used by those same citizens! Speculators, manipulators and the banks continue to unfairly and unjustly make the driving public pay higher prices at the pump for their personal benefit.
How much will gas prices go up and they will rise, the trend is always up with fuel prices. The price at the pump needs to go down to $2/gallon, $3, $3.50/gallon or $4.00 is Not the new low!
Whatever the size or shape of the vehicle, Produce and ‘Drive’ vehicles with high MPG, are very safe, reliable, have a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money.
The price of fuel at the pump is too high!

Does anyone actually bother to even read the OP?

They're talking about gas from the North Slope of Alaska.

You know, Alaska, that bit of the US that even the southern part of which is separated from the rest of the US by about a thousand miles of rough country in Canada.

Who's going to ship natural gas from Alaska to the rest of the US, when we've already got more than we can use?

Just what we need, first they ship our jobs overseas and now the rich are going to ship our natural resources overseas to be used against us. This country don't have a chance for a recovery as long as the greedy bastards run the show.

Liquify and get all large trucks to convert to it. This will absorb a good portion of it and make our air cleaner as well as containing shipping costs. According to industry experts, this, alone, would completely eliminate the need for Middle East oil.

The energy companies would rather burn it off and waste it rather than provide it at a price where they might lose a few pennies.
