Too bad Obama and the democrats have not learned the same lesson the rest of the nation has already. Buying elections and votes is very costly .

Richard "Tricky Dick" Nixon tried that stunt. The only thing is that the wage controls worked much more effectively than the price controls. You'd expect an idea like that from somebody from Canada.

IMHO, the term "fixed income" means "wrong mindset to wealth management." People generally are so obsessed about avoiding short-term swings in their principal that they invest in what they consider "safe" investments. The only problem is the "safe" investments are really very dangerous in that their returns are pretty much guaranteed not to keep pace with taxes and inflation.
I do have part of my income that is fixed, but that's the nature of a corporate pension (something that a lot of people don't even have in the first place).
>Interest rates are so low that they cannot make reasonable returns on their savings
You can blame Bernanke's "quantitative easing" for that.
So, what to do about it? My answer is to go to the stock market. There are lots of companies out there that pay generous dividends. Dividend payments have the second benefit that they are taxed at a lower rate than interest payments. There are over 100 companies that have a dividend yield higher than 3%. Yes, their stock prices may vary at any given time. But if you stay in for the long term, stocks go up in value with more consistency and less risk of return fluctuations compared to fixed-income investments.

Lologogo: At what point does it become his fault? 4 years and two years where the regime and their party controlled the whole mess where those greedy and evil republicans could not have stopped anything if they wanted to. The evil and greedy people that you refer to are democrats as well and politicians in general but you support them with your ridiculous little 'buy in' to their party line.

And yet we gave the president a mandate to raise all taxes (in his view) last November, his promotion of class warfare is obscene - this is a nation with out class - until the want free stuff from the government folks take over the government - then take away from the successful folks and give to the failures - becomes a national goal. I'm glad I was raised with a generation that believed in taking responsibility for ourselves and when the going got tough, we got tougher and worked harder - to my shame it appears that for many americans they can no longer take care of themselves let alone their families ( which they continue to have in spite of no way that they are willing "God forbid" to sacrifice and work to build a successful family. It is scary

I have been cutting back for 6 years now. But I don't blame Obama. He had a big mess to fix. I blame all the greedy people in this world who are rich enough to make thing great for themselves & make all the rules to suit their purpose & leave the rest of us fighting for a decent wage & a easy enough tax form to understand.

For those on fixed income times are tough. Interest rates are so low that they cannot make reasonable returns on their savings and gas and food prices are climbing. Obama is trying to get everyone on the dole!!

I've been shocked and I went out of town and I came back and I'm like, oh my gosh, while I was gone, because I went somewhere where I didn't drive, and I was shocked," Nancy Anderson said. It's enough to make almost anyone a little protective of their money.
I have not been on vacation in fifteen years. That is more than some people can say...

I would suggest that if you really care about this country and not about getting the taxpayers to pay your way through obama giveaway plans, you might want to do a Google search for obama's Abuse of Power. Particularly the Wall Street Journal report.

But according to the politicians and bureaucrats that "count" the beans, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) shows "inflation" is not a problem and the talk is that we need to be more stingy with "Cost of Living Allowance" (COLA) pay increases for Social Security recipients and others who live on fixed incomes in order to "get the deficit under control". Amazing that the "tax and spend" liberals (democrats) never get it. (Sorry, it is now "revenue" and "invest".) Wonder how much the HO's two vacations (he took a separate vacation from Michele) cost the taxpayer this past weekend. Perhaps we should be more "stingy" with his budget or travel allowance and let Michele live in a tent without vacations on the horizon.
