Review is good. Hope they can make progress, though, and don;t shut it down.

There was no oil spilled - not even ship's fuel - so this is just a matter of learning from the mistakes and circumstances involved, then moving forward with that knowledge in mind.

These big corporations hate all the regulations, but they bring it on themselves - oh, and the government rarely fines them or puts ANYBODY in jail for their dirty deeds. But don't you DARE get drunk, dear citizen. You will pay for the rest of your life! If only the SHEEPLE would wake up to this Amerika would be a better place.

Ed Markey, a Massachusetts Democrat won't allow drilling off the Massachusetts coast and now want to look into drilling practices off Alaska. Great to have an "expert" ask the questions.

Doesn't matter where you drill or how you move the product, it has to be done safely and with the one thing Pig-Oil lacks, "Integrity".

One side says "drill, baby drill" and the other side says "not in my backyard." If the oil companies were willing to spend the money and set up procedures to make drilling safe, nobody would have a complaint. However, as seen by the Gulg Oil Spill, profit is the primary goal with safety taking second.

These are not the only vessels to have difficulty in those waters. They're just the only ones that get headlines. Fishing boats also struggle in those areas. Does that mean we should ban fishing? Other cargo ships do, too. Does that mean we should stop shipping to/from Alaska? I don't believe these particular incidents resulted in any spills. Hopefully, it will help Shell, and other companies in that area, learn how to avoid these accidents, and especially worse ones.

A spill in Artic waters would have a major ecological impact. Prince William Sound (Exxon Valdese) is still contaminated and it is hundreds of miles south of these locations. RDS and Interior need to proceed extremely cautiously.

Ban all ocean drilling in dangerous or risky locations, then create new specific regulations for tapping into those locations.

if they are having control problems with their equipment then maybe they better look at their employees. maybe take away their drilling privileges till they get their act together.

Accidents happen. Anyone who says we can extract oil without a spill is lying or delusional. Comes down to what we as a community are willing to risk.

Any time you drill or transport a rig there will be a chance of a mishap. Like in most other situations it becomes, what is an acceptable tradeoff?
