NO THANKS!! After seeing one has happened to the Volts and the new Chryslers I wont even stand next to one of these things let alone drive one. Spontaneous combustion is something I try to avoid.

And yet at say 50mph, 3 hours equals 150 miles. So every 150 miles you need to stop for 30 minutes to recharge. That will means on a typical road trip af 10 hours per day you will not get more than 400 miles. I go nearly 450 miles per tank of gas that takes 5 minutes to fill and in ten hours I can go at least 600 miles, including rest stops and lunch. So much for the electric car, it is a toy, nothing more.

Uhhh, so Elon the snakeoil salesman trots out a few proprietary charging stations that are powered by solar panels & the gullible brain dead lib audience eat it up...
Tell us Elon: - what happens if it's been overcast outside for days & your stations solar panels can't do the job? - the 30+ minute "supercharger" stations are occupied with multiple EV owners whose vehicle's batteries are near dead, so one has to wait, & wait, & wait.................................................. - real estate costs too much & it's too expensive to build a station in certain areas.

@GingoutMD: Exactly. At best, EVs are commuter cars until technology catches up. A proliferation of 5-minute charging stations to refill to capacity is a must.

It would be great, but the cost of each car and any repairs out weighs the need to buy a new electric car.

A 10 minute fillup with gas and you're good for 6-8 hrs of highway time. So you get less than half the distance and 3 times the charge time, if you can find, or get to a recharge station.

Electric cars just aren't practical traveling cars. The charging problem will negate sales.

I can gas up in 5 min instead of a 30 min charge. I can then drive for 5 or 6 hours instead of 3. Still just a toy for the rich.

Infrastructure is needed for EVs to be successful and this is a start. There is still a long road ahead (pun intended) for EVs to work as a real alternative to fossil fuel based cars.
