I'm sure car losses from storms helped with this number.

We'll just have to wait and see what the economy has to say about the actual sales in 2013.

Eventually the older cars are going to wear out. Then a newer vehicle is the answer.

Set? why all the prediction?
with this kind of economy only welfare and unemployed ppl will have the money from gov to buy cars they can't afford.

I'll be replacing my truck, already sold, this year. Not in any hurry so there will be plenty of time to do research.

Some of it is pent up demand from drivers that have been hanging onto their old clunkers because of the uncertain economy.

that is great for those that can afford them; however, the cost of the midsize or larger car that many families need are simply too expensive. they are being forced to buy these new sub-compact vehicles that don't meet their needs; especially the lower middle class and the poor. Additionally, these higher new car prices are forcing up the price (not value) of vehicles in the used car markets ;)
Good for the middle class and above that have jobs ;)

This most economical solution is to keep and maintain the vehicle you already own.

With MPG going up by requirement, it has to be a matter of time before car sales decrease.

cnbc -- he rebound in U.S. auto sales shows few signs of slowing down according to a new report that projects new vehicle registrations will top 15 million this year. The auto research firm Polk estimates new vehicle registrations will increase by 900,000 and total 15.3 million for the year.
Can you imagine the traffic jam 15 million cars can make. Hope they stay on both coast and not here....
