VW's only operating manufacturing plant in the US and you get to work 4-10's, that's good. A weekend is 3 days, long enough to enjoy yourself and be back in time to go to work. And, almost forget you have to go to work on Monday. 10 hour days are easy once you get used to them, just a little longer than 8 hour shifts and the commuting time is less per week. NICE! In today's economy, if you have a job that can be a good thing! With 'coming out of the closet' Barry's lousy, smoke and mirrors, lack of jobs, dog and pony show and in the crapper economy, without a job how can you afford to buy fuel and the vehicle to use it! Barry can spin the jobs numbers so they look much better than what they really are, he's a smooooth talker if there ever was one! The trend is always up with fuel prices. The price at the pump needs to go down to $2/gallon, $3 to $3.50/gallon is Not the new low! Whatever the size or shape of the vehicle, Produce and ‘Drive’ vehicles with high MPG, are very safe, reliable, have a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money. Consider using other forms of less expensive transportation to lower your cost. The price of fuel at the pump is too high! 12/22/2012

Interesting that in VW's usual autocratic Prussina style, all workers WILL, as in must, work 10 hour days. As if they were not doing that already and possibly even getting 2 hours OT each day. Now VW will eliminate any and all blue colllar OT while getting more effort out of their non-union shop. How nice!
Four 10 hour day work weeks may be great for some, but it certainly does not fit all and should be an optional work week choice. Not much choice in the work place these days though. Outsourcing and offshoring have simply worked great for all big corporations and the majority of plant workers are as docile as sheep.

Most people I have heard of who work 10 for four like it as it gives them an extra day off and less commuting.

It would work for me, especially with what they're making versus the $8 an hour I and others are getting. Not many good jobs out there today.

My husband is presently working 4 days/week, 10 hours each and loves it. Not only does it give him another day off, it saves on gas and wear and tear on the vehicle. It also saves me one day of work clothes for the laundry. It works out very well.
